Downtown on a Sunday? 1st time

I am going to Vegas May 8th - 11th and staying at Caesar%26#39;s. I have never been downtown and plan on making it down there on Sunday. Is there live music, paint spray man, and good nighttime vib on a Sunday? Also, I was planning on picking up the fun sheet above Walgreens and was interested in using the MSS 2 for 1 buffet coupon. Is it valid for a Sunday? I had read somewhere on this forum that it might not work on Friday, Saturday night(seafood?). I will have my mom, sis, and aunt in tow. It is my aunt%26#39;s 1st time to Vegas and everyone%26#39;s 1st time downtown. Also, how sketchy is the 105 down there? We would go in the afternoon and take a cab back to the strip that night(late night bus ride might be more than my mom can hamdle as she spooks easily). Any advice on downtown in general would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Downtown on a Sunday? 1st time

We very often go downtown on Sunday night. The only time I%26#39;ve been disappointed down there was on a Monday night . . . no music and only one artist :(

Can comment on the MSS.

Also haven%26#39;t taken the 105, but we have taken the Deuce. It was an interesting experience. Not sketchy. I agree, however, about not bussing back at night.

Unless you really like to gamble, I wouldn%26#39;t plan to spend more than 2 or 3 hours downtown. The music doesn%26#39;t start until about 7. Light show starts at dark.

Just keep an open mind, you are not at CP any more.

Downtown actually in the city of Las Vegas, you will pass a sign that says Welcome to Downtown Las Vegas, that%26#39;s the city limits.

Just follow the crowd when you get off the bus. Then it is all a question of what you make of it.

Take the Deuce down just to say that you have. Get loaded on the cheap drinks see the light show hear the bands maye do some low limit gaming, have a good time, then take a taxi back to the CP.

Take it from me, traffic slowing up the Deuce can be hell if you have been pouring in the beers and the first safe place to stop to ';rest'; is Dino%26#39;s or the Strat.

PM me or for some extended reading try this.

Since I am fairly new to the forum, I don%26#39;t know how to pm someone. Also, is the 105 the same thing as the duece?

click chitowngambler then hit send message. Just like email after that.

Thanks for the info.

Are you guys going downtown to gamble? Or just to see the sights? I just got back from my first trip downtown, and just had the pleasure of writing my first trip report, but we mainly casino hopped. We had a blast going from casino to casino, feeding a slot here and a slot there. It%26#39;s neat to look around a bit and to see the light shows, but I agree with coffeemug, if you are there for the loose slots it%26#39;s great, but if not a couple hours will be good enough. Hope you have as much fun as we did!

We are slot players, but I am going to take advantage of the lower limit tables too. I am going to try to not go crazy on the slots since I have a host for Caesar%26#39;s and want that play on my card. Does anybody know if the walk from the walgreens down there is far from the main lighted area? Thanks for any help!

The 105 is not the Deuce.

Walgreens is within the Fremont Street Experience.

The area under the canopy, east to 8th and north towards Main Street adn the Calafornia is well patrolled as are the boundries of each hotel in the FSE.

These days even if you leave those areas, chances are all you will run into is an occasional panhandler or soiled dove. Just polietly say ';No Thanks'; and keep moving.

sandi- We really enjoy taking a trip dt. You may want to go late afternoon or early evening though, things don%26#39;t start happening until later. Have a great time! (When we were there the 1st light show is at 8pm)

chitowngambler- Every time you write soiled dove, it makes me want to find my old Carl Sandburg books, which I grew up with and enjoyed. Also makes me want to revisit Galesburg!
