Hi Friends!
Sorry I didn%26#39;t post these earlier (or one at a time), but I have been sick.
Leaving for Vegas on Sunday--can%26#39;t wait! Questions:
1. Which casinos would you absolutely (or close to absolutely) SKIP on the Strip? How about Downtown (especially since we%26#39;re only going to be DT for one day)? Is it worth going out of the way to the El Cortez DT (looks a bit far to walk on a busy day DT)?
2. Should one just skip the North End of the Strip (after the Wynn)--we%26#39;ll have at least 3 days on the Strip?
3. Which are the best Casinos for free drink service while gambling (good service, good drinks)? Is it any drink you want at these places?
Thanks so much. Again, sorry I multi-questioned here, but not much time and I was el-sicko. Any answer to any question will be most appreciated.

Questions, questions before we go to Vegas Sunday!
Skip Circus Circus (unless eating at The Steakhouse) and Imperial Palace, both smell reeeeeeeeeally bad and have a thick headachy sort of atmosphere.
There really isn%26#39;t a great deal beyond Wynn, no. I%26#39;ll be visiting Peppermill%26#39;s but that%26#39;ll be the only reason fro venturing that far up. Oh, and maybe the Strat for the rides, but that%26#39;s cab time.

On the Strip - Dont miss Bellagio,Wynn,Paris, Caesars and Venetion.
Only plan a few hours downtown. Maybe get there around 6:00 and stay for the show at 8:00. The light show is really neat. Then leave shortly after. Went to El Cortez for blackjack and not worth it. Better game at Tropicana on the strip.
Great drink service at Caesras and Paris. I ordered cosmopolitans and appletinis at Paris and they were great! Actually in a martini glass too(LOL)
Those that I would skip on the Strip-
Circus Circus
Excal
IP
Hilton
Monte Carlo
Riviera
Sahara
Downtown-
California
Freemont
Gold Spike
Plaza
Dont have anything personal against these places, just if I only had a given amount of time, I might skip these!! Hope you are feeling better and have a great trip Quizz!!
Shona =-)
That should have been FREMONT!! Cant believe I did that!!!( Hangs head in shame...)
Unless you are staying there I%26#39;d skip IP, Bill%26#39;s, and Bally%26#39;s on the main part of the strip. Not that Bally%26#39;s or Bill%26#39;s are bad, but they don%26#39;t have anything noteworthy to see. Unless you are willing to pay to go to the top of the Stratosphere to ride the rides, I wouldn%26#39;t bother to go to north of Wynn. I would also just go for the evening to see the light show downtown unless you are a heavy gambler. Except for the Golden Nugget, the casinos downtown are about the same. Had good drink service and an excellent mai-tai at the Wynn.
The problem with this is everyone%26#39;s opinions are different. These are mine for what that are worth!
I personally wouldnt bother with north of the Wynn.
The hotel/casinos I wouldnt visit again are, Imperial Palace (nothing special), Flamingo (we just didnt like it), Excalibur (again didnt like it), and New York New York (smelt like greasy foods and made me feel queasy). Apart from that I%26#39;d pop my head into the rest at least.
I had the best drinks service at Bellagio, Palazzo, Paris, and Mandalay Bay and the worst at Planet Hollywood and Ballys, although I still enjoyed gambling at both of them regardless.
I agree with Carrie105. It%26#39;s hard to ask what to skip, because if you listen to everyone, you might not need to go anywhere!
More relevant is what not to miss:
Caesars
Bellagio
MGM
Luxor
Mandalay Bay
New York New York
Paris
Planet Hollywood
Venetian
Wynn
Mirage
TI
If I hit those, I feel like I have covered the strip.
Usually, I hit most of them in a morning or two, just by walking from one to the next.
As far as downtown, it%26#39;s so hard to say, because the places are smaller, so the atmosphere really changes with the crowd. There are times that I have LOVED Golden Gate, but it can also be a complete waste of time. I doubt the walk to El Cortez would be worth it, but the rest of the Freemont St. places can easily be hit, and if something looks lame, you%26#39;ll just walk out.

I agree with mgg42.
Downtown, since everythings pretty close together, it really doesn%26#39;t matter.
GN and the Fitz, would be my 2 must see%26#39;s. Although IF I had to choose only 1 must place downtown it would be Golden Nugget.
Please understand that some ones dump is another man%26#39;s castle.
I%26#39;ve only been to Vegas once but I found the best drink service at Harrah%26#39;s. I would sit down at a slot and a waitress would show up within 5 minutes.
I second skipping Circus Circus. We played the slots there for about 20 minutes and our hands felt dirty just after that. There are kids running around like crazy there too.
My suggestion is to not over plan and just go with the flow.
You might have a few must sees on your list. Keep those in mind and let the rest work itself out.
If you are exhausted it is not worth walking far out of your way to see one more thing that is not on your must see list.
I am one of the few who don%26#39;t get the appeal of the Bellagio fountains. To me it%26#39;s just water shooting up in the air. The point is everyone has different taste so nobody can tell you what you will or won%26#39;t like.
