Mac King Show-embarassing question!!

I would like to see this show but i have a little query about the show i need to get cleared up first!!! Are there any balloons or anything else that makes a sudden big bang involved in the show?? I have a phobia of this. Thanks

Mac King Show-embarassing question!!

Every show might be different, but I do not remember any balloons or loud bangs of any kind. He has a very entertaining show, good value for a nice afternoon show.

Mac King Show-embarassing question!!

did you check the search function? LOL.

There is a goldfish. I don%26#39;t remember any balloon.

Mac bangs cymbals at the end of the show, it is right after he makes himself disapear so be aware.

Pretty Loud but since you know now I would go but get those coupons from the strip so you get a drink and discounted price to the show.

The rest of the show was great me and 10 yr DD has seen him 2 times, enjoyed ourselfs.

Thanks everyone, maybe i could live through this one!!

Buffets - I have to ask.

A girlfriend of mine said she doesnt eat lunch in vegas, she has late breakfast and a great dinner...then she told me that she brings baggies in to the buffet in her purse.

Makes little sandwiches, some vegetables or fruit for her lunch %26amp; puts them in baggies and into her purse.

AND...she also packs little snacks, squares, sugary food for a snack later.

Has anyone ever done this? Is it totally uncool? Is it common practice? are there cameras? Has anyone ever been caught?

Im not sure if I could, it makes me laugh to think about doing it and OMG what if someone caught me...hahahaha.

Fess up

Stace

Buffets - I have to ask.

Unbelievable.

Buffets - I have to ask.

Seriously??? yes it is totally uncool and against the buffet policy. I have seen people take an ice cream cone and eat it as the exited the buffet, which is not that uncommon ,, but packing snacks????

Does you freind to the same when she invited for dinner at someones home?

EK

Very Very uncool!

So I guess its totally uncool, which means the people who do it are probably not going to post...but she said she knows lots of people who do it as she is telling me to go ahead and do it.

I tried to picture myself sneaking food into my purse and immediately started laughing and humming the Mission Impossible tune...hahahah

Stace

Tacky - but to each his own.

If you have to STEAL food from a buffet then maybe you shouldn%26#39;t be going on vacation.

Is it OK to do carry-out at a Parry Sound buffet?

I%26#39;m just surprised that if she%26#39;s having a late breakfast and later a great dinner she really feels the need to eat anything in between anyway?

You had to ask if this is uncool?

Does she bring her own mix and order a coke as well?

  • Back from a Birthday Weekend

Just returned from Vegas, Friday night to Tuesday afternoon (4/18-4/22). Despite my usual strong desire to plan out each day of our trip, this was my husband’s birthday weekend so we did it his way…sleeping late, no reservations, playing it by ear, and as a result missing the beer pong M%26amp;G on 4/21!!!

This forum was very helpful in getting ready for our trip, so I intended to write a full trip report when I returned. Unfortunately, I just can%26#39;t remember all of the details! Here are some highlights…

    Back from a Birthday Weekend

    MGM Grand

    - Used the Fatwallet website to find a promo code. The promo rate required my Players Club account, luckily didn’t matter that I had no recent activity on it. Total before tax and fees was just over $500, and included a $25 dining credit and 2 free drinks.

    - Airport check-in was super fast and easy, even at 10pm on a Friday night when we arrived. No line at all. As expected, the agent “upgraded” us to the West Wing as there were no King NS rooms in the Grand Tower at that time of night on a busy weekend.

    - Turns out the West Wing room worked just fine for us; however, we would not pay extra to stay in this wing – it wasn’t any quieter than the Grand Tower, room lacked bathroom counter space, and had poor bathroom vanity lighting. But the bed was comfy!

    - Valet was easy and very fast at all times of the day.

    MGM Grand – Concierge

Kudos to the Concierge at MGM for helping me pull off a little b-day surprise for my husband! I had pre-arranged via email with a Concierge there to have a b-day cake, balloons, drinks, etc. waiting in our room upon arrival. I was very impressed to show up at our room and find everything as planned. Honestly, I was surprised that of all the hotels/resorts we’ve been to where we’ve had some special package or arrangements, MGM was the only one to get it right – exactly as I ordered, on time.

    Restaurants

Hash House A Go Go – Thanks for the TA tips on this one! The food was great and portions were huge. Only issue was very slow service even though the restaurant wasn’t full.

White Chocolate Grill (Henderson, I-215 %26amp; Eastern Ave) – Technically a chain restaurant, but we really liked it. We went for an early lunch on Sunday and it wasn’t busy at all. Typical American grill fare, unfortunately we didn’t try their dessert specialties. Interesting atmosphere with dim lights, candles, dark wood (guess we expected more casual?). Probably not worth a special trip to visit, we happened to be in the area already.

Freed’s Bakery (Henderson) – We happened to see the new Freed’s location as it’s right across from White Chocolate Grill, and of course we had to stop in for a treat. Definitely recommend it! Also nearby is The Cupcakery, which I also recommend (found on a different trip).

Diego (MGM) – Good Mojito and Mexican coffee! I don’t recall anything spectacular about the food. My husband thought it was a little overpriced but that’s what we expected. We chose it more for the convenience of not having to leave the hotel. At least the chips and salsas were free! :-)

Studio Café (MGM) – Typical hotel 24-hour café but seems to be more expensive than others I’ve been to before. This meal and price I DO remember - $12+ for a chicken Caesar salad that consisted of about 5 leaves of Romaine lettuce, and the taste/quality didn’t make up for the size!

Le Burger Brasserie (Paris) – For some reason, the majority of diners were seated in close quarters in the same section, which made for very slow service by the one waitress. The service was very poor and the burgers just okay. We did get a laugh out of the guy sitting next to us who asked for a burger topped with every protein option listed on the menu.

    Gambling

I’m not a big gambler at all, so I don’t have much to share here. I generally choose whatever slots look interesting and give up when I’m ahead. And, for the first time, I played blackjack – luckily my winnings made up for my husband’s poker losses!

    Shopping

I AM a big shopper, but still don’t have much to share as I did mostly window shopping this time. I work at the home office of a specialty fashion retailer, so I also look at silly stuff like traffic, visual merchandising, etc. at my stores and others. Anyway, we did hit the Palazzo, Fashion Show, Forum, and Miracle Mile.

Other fun stuff included the Jay-Z / Mary J. Blige show, and cruising around in a convertible Shelby Mustang. Overall, it was a great trip, and my husband really enjoyed his birthday weekend. Hope we will be back in November for my b-day!

    Back from a Birthday Weekend

Sounds like a great time and it was nice to read about some places that rarely get talked about on this forum. How nice that MGM followed your exact directions and did the birtday surprise perfectly!

Sounds like a great trip. Welcome to the world of blackjack :)

  • Cheapest ATM's in vincinty of Las Vegas Blvd

Other then going to Walgreen%26#39;s or some store for a maximum of $40. Where in Las Vegas has the cheapest surcharge on ATMS?

Cheapest ATM's in vincinty of Las Vegas Blvd

The machine in the CVS next to Monte Carlo was only charging $2, I think.

Cheapest ATM's in vincinty of Las Vegas Blvd

Machine in Ellis Island is $1.50

Does your bank have any atms in Vegas? Should be surcharge free.

I found a bank of america atm in the lower levels of ceasars during my last trip and there were no surcharges.

Casino Royale is the cheapest we found on the strip. We checked it out after a tip off from someone on this forum. I think it was $2.

Casino Royale, between venetian and Harrahs....$1.00 charge as of end of Feb. Carrie above said it may have gone to $2.00. It%26#39;s been $1.00 for a few years, still the lowest we have seen..

Also, check the airport when you land. I know there is a Wells Fargo ATM in the C Concourse when you get off the plans, right by where the tram shuttle is. Actaully, next to Nuts and Things where we always get popcorn for the flight home, lol.

Check in Baggage claim area too, have a bank ATM%26#39;s (might have yours)there that you can use before you get to the strip if that helps.

My bank is definitely not available in Las Vegas I%26#39;ve checked so that%26#39;s why I%26#39;m asking around for lowest surcharge ATM%26#39;s or even FREE (in Vegas????? yeah right......)

Last year I found Walgreen%26#39;s to have the lowest, but I must admit that it was the only one I found outside of the casino%26#39;s on the strip. I%26#39;m confused though because I know I got a few hundred out.

Don%26#39;t count on your $40 getting you any limos.

if you bank with Bank of America, they have an atm in the Caesar%26#39;s forum shopping center. It%26#39;s on the first floor in the original part of the shopping center a little north of the bebe store and on the same side of the mall as the bebe store. it%26#39;s at the beginning of the hallway that leads to the bathrooms. If you%26#39;re a non-customer, their surcharge is $3.00

    Vegas heat

We are a family of four (two teen boys) from NQ Australia visiting vegas in mid July for four nights.

We have been before briefly (in April 2005) but a bit worried by reports on here of vegas heat in july and august. Reports of 118 degres etc.

R these exaggerated and will the heat hinder our vegas experience.???

    Vegas heat

When i went the weather was lovely (mid 20s C), but even with that mildish temperature, you can really feel the dryness in the heat. There is no humidity at all unlike the heat in Australia

I found my skin feeling really dry. So bring plenty of face moisturiser !

I much prefer humid heat, it%26#39;s better for your skin :)

    Vegas heat

It will be extremely hot- the record is 117. You can count on high temps of about 103. Yes, it is a dry heat-but it is still hot at that time. You will be fine as long as you pace yourself. Bring sunglasses, hats and buy lots and lots of suntan lotion once there. The most important thing- drink plenty of water- and then drink some more! It is easy to become dehydrated without realizing it. Some people like to do most of their walking at night but it is hot even after the sun goes down. Find a shady spot at the pool. If you are walking and it becomes too hot- go into the nearest casino for a cool drink and a rest.

Some people find the heat just too much but I have gone to Vegas during the summer for 16 years and I love it. If you use common sense you will be fine.

While it is hot in Vegas at that time of year, it is a dry heat which does help a tad. Sunscreen is a must as you will burn like an egg on the pavement. Lots of water and a hat are a must. The main thing is to use the casinos to cool down. If heat is a problem, try going out early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the sun is not at full force.

my DH and I go mid august every year. We lived in Arizona for a number of years so we are use to the heat. Yes, it can be unbearable but you can make the most of it. Since you are traveling with the boys I will make my list for them.

    1) look into renting a cabana mid week at the hotel if you are staying at (if they have one) -- cabanas can range from $125 to $250 however you will have it all day and it is a welcoming break from the sun especially if you want to use the pool.

    2) if you are walking the strip go go in a hotel to see the sights, get a drink, for every 10 minutes walking the strip you should stay inside for at least 1/2 hour.

    3) Go to the movies

    4) go bowling

    5) fo to gameworks.

    6) do most of your walking early morning/early evening.

For a quick refresher in very high heat you might want to try this. Before you leave the hotel, rinse a washcloth in cold water and wring it out. Lay ice cubes down the center and fold the wash cloth over it. Put the whole thing in a ziplock bag.

When you feel very hot, bring out your bag, wring the washcloth out inside the bag and wipe your face, neck and pulse points with it.

    Not only will you feel instantly refreshed and cooler, but people around you will say, ';Why didn%26#39;t I think of that?';

No, that%26#39;s not what they%26#39;re going to say.

    They%26#39;re going to say, ';Hey, there%26#39;s that gal from Naples!';

    I keed, I keed.

I haven%26#39;t turned into charcoal yet, been here for almost 29 years.

It will be hot, over 100F everyday, but I find the heat in Vegas easier to deal with, maybe because I%26#39;m on holidays.

Three things we make sure we have in Vegas in summer.

    Body moisturiser

    Lip gloss

Endless supply of water, buy a pack of 24 bottles %26amp; take one or two each, everytime you go outside.

I%26#39;ll be there July 2nd to 16th staying Fitzgeralds, Flamingo %26amp; Grandview (near Southpoint).

    Enjoy your trip.

I live in Fort Lauderdale and when I experienced Las Vegas heat I could not believe it. It was 110 and 104 in June and July. Do this.. empty your oven and turn it on 450 degrees. Wait 10 minutes then open it up with your face about 6 inches from the door.. and what do you get? LAs Vegas heat. It truly is dry heat. Wear light clothing and a hat and glasses with a water bottle in one hand and a cocktail in the other! I can tell you it is not unbearable... just stinkin hot!

No, the reports are not exaggerated. It will be as hot or hotter than anywhere you have been in your life. Previous posters have given you good advice. Don%26#39;t spend too much time outdoors during the afternoon and early evening when it%26#39;s hottest. Carry water with you and stay hydrated.

I don%26#39;t enjoy Vegas as much in the hot summer months, but it doesn%26#39;t have to ruin your trip unless you fail to prepare for and respect the heat.

Should I prebook my Grand Canyon trip?

Should I book my grand canyon trip before i go to vegas? ...i%26#39;ve had mixed reviews on this.. some say definitly.. others say there%26#39;s more choice and it%26#39;s cheaper once out there. I%26#39;m confused!! please help me decide!!

Also.. if anyone knows of a good company to book this through let me know!

    Thanks in advance.

Should I prebook my Grand Canyon trip?

Have you been to Vegas before? Is it a helicopter trip? I would be tempted to wait, because you may change your mind when you get there. I read a report a while back where a group had stayed up too late drinking and gambling they night before and wished they hadn%26#39;t prebooked their GC trip.

Should I prebook my Grand Canyon trip?

    hi chuck....

save your money.the night before you you go to vegas ,stand at the top of a high hill and look down in to a dirty river and you will have the canyon experience without paying for the privelege.

    change privelege for privilige

    Which hotel for 1st timer?

I am looking at going to Vegas the last weekend in May. It will be mine and my boyfriend%26#39;s first time there and we are getting overwhelmed at trying to pick a hotel. We are in our 20%26#39;s and trying to find somewhere without alot of families/seniors and thats not too far away from everything (as we wont have a car). Trying to get a flight and hotel for around $500 pp. My friend suggested MGM. Is this our best bet or are there any other suggestions?

PS- Whats the best website for Vegas package deals? Thanks!

    Which hotel for 1st timer?

    Mirage or maybe MGM.

It%26#39;s best to book air and hotel separate. If you book hotel directly with the hotel, you can rebook if they lower the rates. Usually. Just read the fine print. Most hotels have 48hour notice to cancel without penalty. Weekends are very expensive in Vegas.

    Which hotel for 1st timer?

I would opt for MGM or Planet Hollywood. Both are located close to several other properties and generally are younger in clientele. Palms appeals to a younger crowd, but it is off-strip and probably not the best 1st timer choice.

Alot of times you can get the best deal booking your airline direct and then using priceline to get a good hotel price. Check out www.biddingfortravel.com to see what people are getting hotels for on Priceline and you should be able to get a great deal.

Book seperate and look at Bally%26#39;s great room and really ggo prices and in the center of the strip directly connected indoors to the Paris.

    Cheers,

I would also recommend booking separately . . . you%26#39;ll usually do better that way.

I don%26#39;t know how much air fare is going to be from Detroit to Las Vegas, but assuming you%26#39;re calling May 23-26 (three nights) the last weekend in May, TI is showing a total of $657 for those three nights--that%26#39;s less than MGM, Planet Hollywood or Mirage and, I think, a good choice for you.

If you%26#39;re calling May 30 - June 2 (three nights) the last weekend in May, rates are even higher.

You might find young fun 20 somethings on a budget at Flamingo or Imperial Palace but the Flamingo is an aging property and IP is a bit shoddy. Fun but shoddy.

Don%26#39;t stay at Circus Circus, Strat, Sahara, Riviera, Tropicana or Excalibur.

I forgot to mention that Flamingo might also be a good choice. Their Web site is down right now. Check their rates out tomorrow.

TI targets the 20 somethings and it%26#39;s a nice place. The pool is lame compared to MGM or Mirage.

Forgot to mention- I plan on staying out all night and recovering by the pool all day. So I would rather have a hotel with a killer pool and a less fancy room? If that makes sense...

    Then definitely check out Flamingo.

I agree with coffeemug, Flamingo would be your place, great room, very comfy bed, Margaritaville, great vibe in casino, one of the better pools on the strip, I believe they have 4, 1 is an adult pool, they also have a hot tub. It is centrally located on the strip, so it makes it very easy to get around on the strip, across from CP, view of Bellagio fountains, great amenities in the room, you can check it out on Harrah%26#39;s website which is

    www.harrahs.com

click on LV, then hotel(Flamingo) reservation for rates, %26amp; description of the room also you can check out the pool on their website as well plus the restaurants. I think the best part is that it is centrally located, %26amp; has one of the better pools.

    mirage vs TI

I have booked a room at Mirage and TI (will eventually cancel one) We have a better room booked at TI but I hear the Mirage has a better pool. I do want to do a lot of pool time....any one been to the recently renovated TI pool? Any recent experiences? Thanks

    mirage vs TI

    Pros of Mirage: Pool, nightlife,

Pros of TI, renovated rooms, cheaper.

The pool itself at TI is not bad, but there is not much of a pool scene and is tiny compared to Mirage. Drink Service is better at Mirage. The pool at TI has not been ';renovated'; justed spruced up and they added these ottomans a few years ago ..if you can get one.

    mirage vs TI

How old are you? When are you traveling? Who are you going with? What rates have you got?

The Mirage pool is certainly a step up from TI, but these questions will help determine which property might be better for you overall.

If it is a lot of pool time you are after, then it%26#39;s got to be the Mirage. Also, Mirage rooms are in the process of being renovated, all will be completed by the end of Aug, perhaps you could ask for one of the newly renovated rooms at check in. Overall, Mirage is a better property than TI. However, TI caters to a younger, more hip crowd I believe.

There both nice properties. If pool is most important, that go with the Mirage - very tropical and fun pool scene. If rooms are most important, the TI rooms have been really nicely renovated. I know Mirage is in the process of renovating rooms, but don%26#39;t know when you%26#39;re going or if you%26#39;ll be able to get a renovated room. If you can, then that would seal the deal for me in favor of Mirage. The two hotels are connected by walkway and tram, so you%26#39;ll be able to enjoy the dining, shopping, and nightlife of both without ever even stepping outside! Enjoy!

not over bothered about service just want to get there.

I haven%26#39;t flown NWA since the early 90%26#39;s so I can%26#39;t help much there, but for entertainment and other seating/ ammenties info, go to:

    seatguru.com/airlines/鈥nformation.php

You%26#39;ll need to know which aircraft is designated for your flight which should be in your itinerary.

northwest airlines sorry another ? from me

    Hi Tanya,

I%26#39;m not from the UK but from Canada, My wife and I drove from Toronto to Detroit last summer and flew out of Detroit with Northwest. The flight from Detroit to Vegas was GREAT!! we flew 1st class so I am sure that made a little difference. HOWEVER the flight home what a nightmare.

We were in Vegas for a week and it was early Wednesday morning, 3am and I get a call on my cell from Northwest telling me my scheduled flight from Vegas to Detroit was cancelled and there were no available flights on the day I was to leave, and I was responsible for finding and arranging my own flight. Well this woke me up out of my alcohol induced coma ; )

We ended up leaving a day later than we were supposed to with no help from Northwest. Ya I know another day in Vegas. I will NEVER fly Northwest again. This is only one experience out of a gazillion travellers but I thought it was worth sharing.

As far as seat back entertainment, NOPE! not even a movie at least not the plane we were on, may be different from a flight from the UK however.

    Enjoy = )

i%26#39;ve booked flight now so going to keep fingers crossed and everything else that all goes ok lol

thanks for link DRVegas, have had a look and have seat back video on demand so thats cool.

    42 days to go

    soooo excited.

I can%26#39;t speak for NWA from UK, but we have used Northwest from Indianapolis a lot....no complaints, good service and on time.

    Hi Tanya

I flew NWA last year from Gatwick to Detroit then on to Vegas and the flight was fine, no delays.

Yes we had seat back screen.

We did only get one meal and one drink all the way,

which didnt bother me as i dont like plane food anyway.

I am sure you will be fine.

    Have a great trip.

    Pinktiffs.

I have flown Northwest thru Detroit to Paris and Amsterdam in the last few years. I was pleased with the in flight entertainment and overall experience.

You will also find Customs in Detroit very easy to navigate. You have to retreive your bags, just walk a short distance to clear Customs and Immigration, then return your bags in the same area.

Northwest has one long terminal in Detroit. You can either walk on moving walkways or take an overhead tram to your connecting gate area. It is very efficient.

Don%26#39;t expect food on your Detroit to Vegas flight. They may sell snacks like trail mix, but there won%26#39;t be a meal.

I am not sure of your experiences with American airlines, but my experience with Northwest is they are as good or better than most.

    Hi

We flew with Northwest and had a good flight transatlantic going to the states (via Amsterdam) but on the return we had an old DC10, not nice. Overall though the food was OK and our luggage was there in arrivals even though we had two plane changes, so it%26#39;s not all bad.

    Clive

thank you all very much feel much better now.

i have flown united and found them very good.

    Hi Tanya,

We did this same flight with NWA last September and it was absolutely fine.

We really enjoyed the flight from London to Detroit was really nice, a much more modern, larger and nicer plane than the internal flight. We had seat back TVs and plenty of room.

The flight from Detroit to Las Vegas was OK, it was kind of like an easyjet flight in the UK, a smaller older plane and no meals but you could buy snacks and drinks. We were delayed but this was due to a storm and the flight was completely full so was a bit chaotic on board. But all in all it was fine.

Don%26#39;t worry about the connection either as other people have said it was all really smooth and you are directed where to go the whole way through.

You really don%26#39;t have anything to worry about!

    Cx

I flew from Gatwick on the 31st March and flew back to Heathrow on the 10th April..(this was because the day they changed to Heathrow was the day i flew back).

Dont worry my flight experience was really good..

Gatwick to Detroit was very good..the plane we had had screens in the back of the seat in front of you on which you could pick your own movie or game to play or even track the flight..

The flight from Detroit to Las Vegas was like the other person said smaller plane, it did however seem like it had bigger seats...soft drinks were free..but no entertainment...

Also like the other person said you are directed through at Detroit...you do have to get your luggage off but then you are directed through and told where to put them back on..

When you get to Vegas you just go to the belt and get your luggage...and away you go..

Coming home was pretty much the same although your luggage goes straight through to Heathrow..

We had a delay of an hour on our connecting flight but still landed early...

Once at Heathrow within 25 mins of landingwe were in taxi home..

PLease dont worry and have a great time in Vegas

opinions on Voodoo steak for wedding meal?

I am trying to organise a wedding meal for 20 people.

I have been given a set menu from Voodoo for $65 dollars and a $78 menu with drinks from SW! What are people%26#39;s opinions?

Any experiences with Voodoo? I know the view is amazing but what about the food?

And for SW are they quite good at serving you with your drinks when you have a drinks package? The price only includes drinks up until the dessert. In SW we can be in the main restaurant or in a private room. Any thoughts?

In vegas roughly, on average what would you pay for a beer? Obviously it depends on where you go, but just a rough idea would be good.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

opinions on Voodoo steak for wedding meal?

My mom had her wedding dinner at Voodoo. We were a smaller group than you have, but I did see another wedding group about that size when we were there.

The food we had was great. We were surprised at the quality of the food, considering some of the steak prices in Vegas.

    I would highly reccommend it.

opinions on Voodoo steak for wedding meal?

I went to Voodoo Steak last month as a party of 13.

I was very unimpressed. The service was slow and not very friendly - there didn%26#39;t seem to be enough staff to cope with a full restaurant. The decor was plain weird and very dark. The food was average... Nothing special at all considering the price.

The view IS fantastic though and I suppose that%26#39;s what you%26#39;re paying for!

Good luck for whatever you decide, I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll have a great day.

Thanks guys for replying. I need to make a decision soon thanks

Nice place, food not that special.

    Wynn Tower Suites

    Hello

My family and I are planning a trip to Vegas(hopefully) in middle/late June. Since the Wynn is the newest hotel in Vegas were are looking to book the tower suites. My question is, can you book the tower suites with double beds (silly question to ask, but the website does not say so)? If we can not get the tower suites which other hotel do you suggest? I have been looking into the Monte Carlo, NYNY, Palms(seems out of the way of main strip), Ceasers, Venetian, Mandalay Bay, and TI, basically the major hotels on the strip.

Last time I stayed was in 2000 in the MGM Grand, and from what I remember was pretty nice - awesome buffet. I know since then alot has changed so some feedback would be appreciated. This trip is for my birthday so looking to have a good time. I am from Jersey by the way so I have been going to Atlantic City a few times a year to gamble and relax.

    Wynn Tower Suites

I believe the Tower Suites are all just one king bed, but I%26#39;m not 100% sure on that. However, the Resort or Panoramic View Rooms can have two queen beds, and both are still quite large (~640 sq. ft.), although not Tower Suites large (~1300 sq. ft.). Palazzo is actually the newest hotel, and it%26#39;s standard rooms are 720 sq. ft. suites, so you might enjoy that. THEhotel%26#39;s rooms at Mandalay Bay are 750 sq. ft. suites - the only downside there is the poor location at the far south end of the strip. If I were you, I%26#39;d do a regular room at Wynn or Palazzo (which is sort of an oxymoron, because there%26#39;s nothing regular about those rooms, they%26#39;re quite spectacular)! Enjoy!

    Wynn Tower Suites

Yes you can get the Tower rooms with 2 queen beds. Search the topic ';Wonderful Wynn Promotion Offer'; on this forum and for promotion codes to get some very decent discounts on their rooms.

Wynn is not the newest hotel. It%26#39;s Palazzo, the sister hotel of and next to the Venetian. Check out the rates there too. It is getting some very good reviews.

You didn%26#39;t say the age or number of your family, but Venetian or Palazzo is a very good family choice. You can get a very large room with 2 beds, and a sunken living room with a large convertable sofa. With seperate TVs in each area.

I am 21 years old. My parents said if everything works out we will go on the week of my birthday. So it will be me, my parents and my little brother. If not the Wynn what is the nest best choice?

I would recommend Palazzo for its newness and good reviews or the Bellagio for its central location.

    Cooperfield or Wyrick

Penn %26amp; Teller will be dark the wk I am visiting, Lance Burton also. My next picks are

David Cooperfield or Steve Wyrick. Which show would u pick?

    Cooperfield or Wyrick

Wyrick, the other guy seems like he don%26#39;t want to be there. Seems bored with himself.

    Cooperfield or Wyrick

I saw David Copperfield, and he was pretty lame.... This was not in Vegas, but in Denver... he was grreting people and signing memorabilia... he looked bored and pathetic....

Steve Wyrick is a nice little show but the two are very different the scale of Copperfield%26#39;s show is much grander than Wyrick%26#39;s. I am not into Copperfield but saw it twice due to the preferences of friends and family. I agree that he appears bored and seems to be going through the motions.

There are a few other choices. Read up on the new show called wohscigameht (it%26#39;s The Magic Show spelled backwards). It%26#39;s new.

Try www.vegas.com and check shows for your dates to see if anyone else is in town.

    Good Luck!

Wyrick is a small show. They practically give away tickets to it to try and fill the room.

    Mirage ???

Thinking of staying there in Sept. Any comments on your stay - re: pool, restaurants, bars

    Mirage ???

I stayed there last Sept and have stayed there several times in the past. Mirage is one of my favorites on the strip, great location, one of the very best pool areas in all of Vegas, good bars and restaurants. Also, the rooms are all being renovated and the renovations will be complete by the end of Aug so you%26#39;d be getting a brand new room.

    Mirage ???

I just returned from a 4-day stay at the Mirage and really enjoyed it. I was in one of the older rooms, but found it to be clean and comfortable. When you arrive ask for one of the renovated rooms. (Maybe by September, all of the rooms will be finished.)

The buffet, Cravings, is really good. I ate there twice. The Champagne Brunch (Sat and Sunday) is great. I also enjoyed the California Pizza restaurant -- good pizza. I did not care for the food in Stack, but the cocktails there were great.

The pool is AWESOME, but get there early (before 12 or maybe even 11 if you want a chair).

I would definitely stay there again.

Thanks for your comments! The few times we%26#39;ve been there we stayed on the other side of the strip. Looking for a nice pool this time as well...so we deciding on this so far.

If you have a good buzz and get hungry, try the Carnegie Deli! The buffet is good, too. I like the darker feel of the casino (some hate it). Best blackjack dealers in Vegas (IMO). The landscaping is very impressive. It%26#39;s my personal favorite (with Mandalay Bay) because it%26#39;s a classy place yet still a lot of fun.

I stayed there in the summer of 2006. Although my room was somewhat dated, it was very clean. I liked the casino and the location was great. The pool is just fantastic and I never had a problem getting a chair. However, I like shade and go early. I was also there mid-week, so maybe that%26#39;s why. The drinks at the pool are huge! Enjoy!

Thanks everyone !! I am not even booked yet and I am getting so excited just talking about it now. Waiting on a few friends to let me know for sure but, I think we may do this one. Is it a problem getting shade by the pool area - Do they have cabbana%26#39;s ?? Not that we don%26#39;t want the sun but, we will be getting there earlier so we will be doing the pool thing our first day.

Darren knows I%26#39;m going to chime in on this since we are both blackjack players. Love the Mirage atmosphere. Casino and dealers are great. Beatles music blasting out is cool, too.

    LL

I agree with all the comments above. I was pleased with my stay at Mirage and found their customer service to be excellent. The pool does have cabanas - haven%26#39;t rented one but they look gorgeous. If you don%26#39;t want to shell out the bucks, you can usually find some shade at the pool if you get there earlier in the morning (say, 9 AM.)

I was there in August and I%26#39;m staying there next week again. There is plenty of shade by the pool there. There are cabanas but not guaranteed you have to put your name on the list. I like this hotel and will be awesome once all the rooms are done=)

Have stayed at the Mirage twice in the Tower suites. These are fantastic and located on the 24th %26amp; 25th floors. I haven%26#39;t stayed in their regular rooms but this is one of the rare places where you can get the Penthouse suites for a pretty dam good price. These Penthouse suites compared to the Bellagio Penthouse suites are basically the same (Bellagio is newer so a little nicer) but over room size and layout are similar yet if you can plan you can get the Mirage Penthouse anywhere from $300-450 a night while the Bellagio Penthouse suite is never this close. Those suites run $600 at least. These prices are during the week and not on the weekend. The pool at the mirage is one of the best. I have ate at one of the places instead before and it was good. I really like the Mirage.

  • Have you had Good/Bad KARMA in Vegas?

Last time I went to Vegas, I paid my brother%26#39;s airfare, Spice Girls, and Toni Braxton Tickets and ended up winning most of the money I spent back on my last 3 dollars on a Wheel of Fortune Slot Machine.

I thought it was good Karma for that trip.

Has anyone had any similar experiences of Karma in Vegas? Even Bad Karma

Have you had Good/Bad KARMA in Vegas?

Helped a sweet little old lady across the street... let%26#39;s see how it goes tomorrow when I land.......

what's your favorite dessert in the desert?

Going for work next week so most of the meals are taken care of for me but when I have my down time I%26#39;d like to stop and get dessert.

Any and all kinds, HUGE sweet tooth

    T -4

what's your favorite dessert in the desert?

    Single malt scotch, neat!

what's your favorite dessert in the desert?

Jean Phillipe at Bellagio.. I can%26#39;t pick just one!!!! they have awesome crepes and the gellato is amazing. They have also an array of miniture pies, the banana royale pie was to die for!!

Last visit I wasn%26#39;t really able to eat too many sweets (too full from the meals) so my favorite for me was trying gelato for the first time. Husbands absolute favorite is the banana cream pie from Emeril%26#39;s.

Hoping to get a few desserts in this time from

Luv it Custard, Jean Phillipe-Belagio, and Payard Patisserie-Caesars. MMMMMMmmm can%26#39;t wait.

I had some kind of dessert at the MGM buffet - little round things. For the life of me I can%26#39;t remember what they were, but they were GOOD.

    Key lime Pie!!!!!

    Really, I love the stuff!!!

    S;-)

    Ice cream and gellato anywhere.

Mine would be a slice of apple pie from the pastry shop in The Flamingo near where you enter the pool area. Great late night snack when staying at The Flamingo and you don%26#39;t want to spend the time for a late night meal.

Frederick Robert at Wynn. Divine chocolates and pastries. He also makes all the gelato for Sugar %26amp; Ice at Wynn.

At the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay...

White Chocolate Banana Bread Pudding with Jack Daniels cream anglaise and whipped cream and a caramel halo. It%26#39;s heaven in a bowl.

    creme Brulee...yum

    carrot cake

    bread pudding with rum sauce

    gelato

    cake from Freed%26#39;s

    cupcakes from the cupcakery

truffles from the above referenced Caesar%26#39;s confection shop

white choclate enrobed cheese cake from Jean Phillipe%26#39;s

    Neros - Caesers Palace

    Need advice

Looking for a restrauant for meal after our wedding in August there will be 11 of us not to worried about the price.

We want to eat at Caesers and seen Neros

Has anyone eaten at Neros at Caesers Palace?

Any good things or bad things about Neros?

    Many thanks in advance

    Dave

    Neros - Caesers Palace

Nero%26#39;s is a wonderful restaurant, it%26#39;s one of my Vegas favorites.

    Neros - Caesers Palace

We went to Nero%26#39;s earlier this month. The shellfish platter appetizer for 2 was excellent. The australian lobster tails were good, but a tad overcooked maybe. My husband said his filet was good. The creamed spinach was not good. I wouldn%26#39;t order that again. The service was excellent. If you choose Nero%26#39;s and price is no object then I think you will enjoy the meal.

thanks for the advice anyone got anymore info on Neros

Anyone got any info on neros ???

    Good meeting place, after Mystere?

Hi, we will already be in Vegas watching Mystere at TI and have some friends flying in that night, can someone reccommend a good bar for us to meet them in for few drinks? either in TI or closeby.

    Good meeting place, after Mystere?

I would say Kaunaville. It is right next to Mystere and they have a casual atmosphere. They have some cool drinks too.

    Good meeting place, after Mystere?

for a step up, try the lounge at Isla

If you like a trendier vibe, do Social House at TI - really cool scene, great sushi and Japanese food if you%26#39;re hungry, and DJ spinning music.

  • Rain or Moon?

Have dinner scheduled for May 2 at N9ne steakhouse at the Palms. Which club would you recommend for a mid 30%26#39;s couple. We love to dance to anything but prefer hip-hop. Also, is there entry provided to Rain or Moon via N9ne steakhouse? Thanks

    Rain or Moon?

    bump

    Rain or Moon?

I preferred Rain. It is a larger club and the music there is great. Moon is a bit smaller but it is on the top floor and does have a great view. I do not think that entry is provided through N9ne steakhouse. You might ask and see. I would just get some passes from one of the guys off the street and sign up for the guestlist on the ninegroup website. That does get you through the line a bit quicker and for free. Also admission to Moon gets you admission to the Playboy club.

i%26#39;ve only been to moon, i%26#39;m 36 and i loved it.

    the view is great. enjoy!

    coffee pot at Caesar's?

I have never stayed at Caesar%26#39;s, but if it is like all the other places I%26#39;ve stayed in Vegas, no coffee pot in room. Does anybody know if you can request one there? I don%26#39;t really want to hassle with Walgreens%26#39; coffee pot. I have a host and the room is comp%26#39;d. Do you think that will help or hurt my request?

    coffee pot at Caesar's?

I don%26#39;t think you can. It isn%26#39;t like some of the other Harrah%26#39;s hotels where they are in VIP rooms. If they are available upon request, there may also be a charge. Having a host will actually help. I would ask him about it. If a pot is not available, perhaps he can comp it from room service.

    coffee pot at Caesar's?

Wow, I cant believe you asked this question!! I had the same question myself as did a lady I work with...So-no longer than 2 hours ago, I called Caesars myself!

They do have coffee pots available for rental. (according to room service) Its $40 for the duration of your stay, whether it%26#39;s 2 nights or 8 nights. They also provide the coffee, cream and sugar, and they will provide more if you run out. There are a limited number available, and they did not have any right now, and you can%26#39;t request one in advance. HOWEVER, he asked me if I had a host and I had to say no.

So I%26#39;m thinking that having a host and being comped can only help you. I arrive there on Saurday and one of the first things I do will be to request one!

Wow! Thanks for the great info. My mom is a big coffee drinker so I will definitely request one and mention it to my host!

    Thanks Again!

We stayed a few weeks ago, requested a coffee pot when booking room through host, and it was delivered shortly after check-in, no charge for a 2 night stay. Our room was comped, but not all our food, we are not high-rollers, just mid-level diamond. I would ask a host for one if Mom really likes her morning coffee.

I have been reading for months now and will post a TR as a reply. Many of you answered my questions just by reading. I have laughed many times at various stories.

Sore Feet and too much food TR

    Love your title.

Sore Feet and too much food TR

    Vegas in a nutshell...awesome

So here it goes. The count down clock at work hit nine PM and I was off for 6 day%26#39;s and Vegas at 9am Saturday April 19th . Start the drive home and it%26#39;s a complete white out can barely see 20 feet in front of the car. If you have ever lived on the west coast this is not normal even in January let alone the middle of April. So a manage to get home and am forced to park in the land lords spare spot upstairs as i don%26#39;t want to get a tow truck at 6am to tow my car out my my parking spot again (just before our wedding). We get up at 5 am to get ready for the drive to Bellingham WA about 15 min south of the boarder. Look out side to see the snow had stopped and it was clear and -4 c. So I trudge out to the car in shorts and sandals (had to do it) to find the car is caked in a sheet of ice. 10 minutes of scraping and we are off to pick up our friend who is joining us. We hit the boarder and time to the pick a line game and a little sign of what was awaiting our gambling luck in the future. 3 lines with 6 cars in each, need less to say we picked the line that had the rookie boarder guard in it 1/2 an hour later we get through.

We get to the airport and get checked in and we are off the the warmth and sunshine. Not so fast I know you are supposed to ware your seat belt on take off and I now know why. Our pilot decides to hit the brakes and stop the plane as he pulls on to the runway to take off. Everybody gets thrown forward and nearly hits the seat in front. Thats a first in my flying life. We land in Vegas about 10 minutes late and we get to out gate in terminal D, we hop the train to the baggage pick up. The baggage room is almost empty. We get to a carrousel%26#39;s and our stuff is already coming off and our stuff is out. Off to the taxi stand with no wait (my last trip it took over an hour) it%26#39;s off to the IP after a quick stop for some beer we are dropped off on the side and the bill is $20 plus tip.

We walk in to the casino and am waiting for the overwhelming wall of smoke and am surprised how clear the air was. Check in was smooth and we are off to our room. Past the Mai Tia bar to the elevators and a huge line up. I then remember from our last stay there there a couple more elevators in behind so we sneak past the crowd to these and boom we are on our way up to the 15th floor. We discover our room as at the very end of the hall as far away from the elevators perfect less noise but by the end of the trip those long walks down the hall will become very tiring. we unpack and it%26#39;s off to pick up our Howie Mandel tickets for later. After getting our tickets we head over to TI for a drink at the Sirens cove Margarita bar for the walk to the Mall for some shopping and a quick bite in the food court. On our way back we go see the Wynn to get our Red cars and the points for the free buffets (not quite free but I saved $5 so it was worth it for the time being more on that later). So we keep seeing these yards of margarita and as it%26#39;s close to 30 c so we finally hunt them down right in front of the IP so we waited in line and I watched a couple get poured and see the price and I%26#39;m out $30 and you don%26#39;t even see them put any booze in it. But my wife and her friend are both way to excited about them so they order one each (there will be some regret from this later).

So we go back to the room as we have dinner later plus Howie and I%26#39;m getting really tired so i want a nap. My wife and her fiend head off to explore some more while I have a beer and get a snooze. We head off to Bouchon at the Venetian my favorite restaurant in the world as I%26#39;m a chef I really appreciate great food and it didn%26#39;t disappoint it only made me want to go back every night. Unfortunately those margarita%26#39;s have now come back to haunt my wife and her friend as they both got very ill near the end of dinner and it%26#39;s not a pretty sight. Back to the room and some Imodiem for the wife and we are off to see Howie while her friend goes to bed sick. If you get a chance to see Howie live he is great i saw him once in the late 80%26#39;s and he is still just as funny, I just wish the chick from Kentucky would have shut up as she did her best to ruin the show event though Howie put her in her place a few times. It%26#39;s now time for bed as the poker tables are calling for the morning.

Great tr, thanks for sharing=) Can%26#39;t wait to read about the poker tables.

Day two starts with we need more drugs for the sick. So we trudge off to Walgreen%26#39;s down by the Monte Carlo a bit of a walk who am I kidding a long freaking walk. We get some water and more drugs and some cash from the ATM (only a $2 charge compared to $7 at the Venetian). After getting the drugs we walked back to the PEE HO (Planet Hollywood)I saw somebody call it that on an other website and i was calling it that the whole trip. Off to the spice market buffet for some breakfast. No line up and some great food with good service all you can ask for in a buffet.

I go play some poker in the 10am tournament and bust out just before they broke down to 2 tables but they started with 6 so for a beginner i think I fared quite well. Just before the tourney I go my A list card and it%26#39;s free stuff $5 match at the Sports book and a $25 match at a table game. Now that the poker is done for the day I go put some money on my Philadelphia Flyers to beat the Caps on Tuesday and off to play Black Jack with my $25 match just so you know I%26#39;m not much of a gambler so a $25 hand of BJ is way out of my price range so one hand it is. Woo Hoo I win and leave with $75 (not for long) I see the Wolf Run Slot on my way out and i have been addicted to it on Blue square since I read about it here a while back.so In goes $50 and out goes $50 in close to 10 minutes. Well that%26#39;s what you get for not leaving while ahead.

I%26#39;ve already had a few beers by now so I%26#39;m off to see what the wife is up to so I start walking back and stop at bills for another beer and some VP and in goes $20 and out goes 15 real quick, so I switch to the video BJ and I get hot and win my money back plus $30 and I%26#39;m like this is good. So I leave and start walking back to the IP with beer in hand and I cut though the Flamingo and I see another Wolf Run and you guessed it BYE BYE $50 again. I will never learn . So i meet up with the wife and friend who are slowly feeling better and they want to go shopping so we head off to the LV outlets by the airport and spend some money. Back at the hotel we decide we are off to the Golden Nugget for dinner and the Fremont St Light Show.

The Nugget seafood buffet was great and the service was very good well worth the trip. The selection of seafood was decent tons of oysters and crab legs. While the other options were very good a s well We might stay there on a future trip. We then wandered through Fremont st checking out all of the old school casinos wonder what it was like in the old day%26#39;s when it was still a Mob town and this is where it all went down. We then waited for the Queen show at 8pm and it was a pretty amazing show. People were dancing and singing ';We are the Champions';, well worth the trip. Off to the Stratosphere for a night time view of the strip from above. Dam it was freaking cold outside on the top but i wouldn%26#39;t go in I had to watch a few of the people and those rides and I like rides but never in a million years.

So we hiked off to the Sahara to take to return Monorail trip back to the IP ( we took it there as well we bought a 6 ride pass and shared it). Where did they get the comedians for the little jokes they have for each stop as they are not funny, and they get old real quick. Back to the hotel to get the blistered, bruised and swollen feet taken care of. and some sleep after a long day.

Enjoying your TR. I would like to hear more about Bouchon and the things that you notice as a chef about the place that maybe others wouldn%26#39;t. Have you been in the kitchen? Do they use a lot of fresh ingredients?

Glad you won your match play bet at P Ho. You should play more blackjack and fewer slot machines!

Ok I am now happy that I posted the food at the Golden Nugget was good, and now I have a chef that agrees with me :)

Those slushy drinks can knock you flat if you drink too much, so tell the wife next time to just get a small one for a buck at La Bayou downtown.

I think the Pee Ho is funny to and appreciate your sense of humor!

Off to the Bellagio for the breakfast buffet, we get in line and wait for 20 minutes or so and we are in to the best breakfast buffet hands down, great food, great service and a all round great time. My wife%26#39;s friend had never been in the Bellagio through many trips to Vegas so I took him to see conservatory and the lobby, well the allergy%26#39;s hit and he has lo go running out the door barely able to breath. Cross that one off the list of places to visit.

I head over to the PEE HO again to try my luck in the 10am tourney again and bust out around the same time as the day before but there are way more players and there was still three table playing when I left. All in all I think this hotel has the potential to be great for the younger crowd and defiantly had a great vibe and I would love to stay there sometime. S I%26#39;m leaving and I see the tell tail signs of a movie set so i wander over and they are filming CSI Las Vegas now that%26#39;s my favorite show so I want to see if i can see any of the cast. Not my lucky day but I do get to meet Katey Sagal (Peggy Bundy) and Diedrich Bader (Oswald from Drew Carey) as they were the ones filming for the episode. I wish I had my camera as they were taking pictures with people between shots very cool. So I start back to the IP too meet up at the pool with the wife and friend, and you can see the story coming, in to Bill%26#39;s for some Video BJ and out comes $60 to my pocket and I%26#39;m happy. I walk around the Flaming this time resisting the urge of the Wolf, and straight into the IP towards the elevator and what do I see an empty spot on the three card poker table. Bye Bye $60 and it%26#39;s just not my trip.

So I get to the pool and hang out with my wife for a few minutes but it%26#39;s too hot for me so I go to the room to get ready to watch the Flyers play the Caps. I have a couple of hours to kill before the game so I head over to Ceasers and Mesa Grill for a bite and a drink. I sit at the bar and have the two best Margarita%26#39;s I%26#39;ve ever had and a great burger. Having only seen Bobby Flay on TV and thinking he is a bit of a idiot I have to say the whole package was great and I would definitely go for dinner in the future.

I head up to the Sports book back at the IP and put money on the under for the game and pull up a seat at the bar to watch the game. I happen to sit beside another Flyers fan and his wife. The game doesn%26#39;t go so well and I lose both my bet%26#39;s ( I never bet for my team) although I did win $90 on double bonus VP between the 2nd %26amp; 3rd period so not to bad.

So it%26#39;s off to the Wynn for the dinner buffet at 7:30 pm and prime time and I wish we had gone somewhere else. By far the worst experience of our trip. We waited in line for 1 hour and that was cool we knew that was coming we had a couple of drinks while waiting and just enjoyed being on vacation. Just as we are getting to the front a lady tries to get her %26amp; her 14 friends in through the VIP line with out passes and get turned away, to the back of the line or so we thought. No she starts to complain loudly, and a young manager comes over and explains why she can%26#39;t jump the line and she gets more defiant and the manager gives in. I know the squeaky wheel gets the grease but come on. So we finally get inside and guess who we are sat near and you guessed it they had the server running for everything, I%26#39;m surprised they didn%26#39;t want them to go get the food for them. Mean while we couldn%26#39;t even get a glass of water to drink and we were getting very tired of it. We finally flagged down some one to get us a drink. We never had our plates removed from the table until we got up for dessert. Over all the food was OK nothing special, not as good as the Golden Nugget so you don%26#39;t necessarily get what you pay for.

By this time i could barely walk my feet were too sore I contemplated taking a cab back to the IP but toughed it out. That was one long sore full walk back.

I am also interested in your impressions of food. I have a couple of close friends who are chef%26#39;s and their opinions are highly valued.

Why Bouchon over other restaurants? Do tell!

After that went back to the MGM in full wedding dress to play the slots and have a laugh.I did seem to be the only one there in a wedding dress though, but everyone was really nice and wished us both well.We then went to Emerils for a meal, got changed then went on the monorail to the top of the strip and walked back to the MGM.

I have to say i did think it was a bit seedy with all the cards of half naked women all over the floor but my hubby did start his own collection to take into work today.

We came back yesterday on American Airlines who were great and landed safely in Manchester.

I just want to say thanks for all your help on here, the advice i got was great.

    Thanks Mrs.Kenny.

    Back and married

Glad to hear it all went well. How long were you there for? any other tips places to go? fav casino etc?

we fly mon with AA so glad to hear flight was good, thats what im really nervous about, did you get free drinks? movie?

Also how did you get your dress there? Thanks

    Back and married

Congrats MRS Kenny. Glad you had a great time.

Congratulations on your become MRS and staying IN Vegas at the MGM! (Next time opt for the Grand Tower room!)

Emeril%26#39;s is one of my favorite places to eat there!

Hope you live a long happy life together!

Congrats! Maybe it was you I saw at MGM that night, in your wedding dress. :-)

Hi sandstring it was great, but we were very tired all weekend next time we%26#39;re going for longer.

We took the monorail to the top of the strip and walked back that was good and the forum shops were great.Drinking and watching manunited in caesars at 9.30am on Sat is recomended.I was pasted by 12pm.Then we went to the fight at 6pm(i was by then drinking water).

The flight was great had good seats at the front from Man to Chicago but it was a bit minging Chicago-vegas but nothing i couldn%26#39;t cope with.Soft drinks were free on all flights beer was $5.00.Food was ok but the onboard films were tragic,so i just slept.Overall i would fly with them again. On the way back i asked at the gate about different seats and they gave us exit seats with loads of leg room but be warned we were freezing sat there we needed loads of blankets.

As for the tower room that we booked they only had smoking so we took the west wing which was ok but next time we%26#39;ll demand a tower room or go to the venitian.Feel free to ask anymore questions.

Well done, congrats to you, I am glad you had fun, I am trying to dwindle my boyfriend into us getting married in vegas, (he hasnt asked yet) but he is having none of it, he has never been to vegas so hasnt been bitten by the bug,he doesnt know what he is missing lol.

I%26#39;m happy you had such fun! Congrats and wishing you the best for your future.

Congratulations suemal- or should I know address you as Mrs. Suemal??!! Sounds like a fun, whirlwind weekend. Best wishes to you!

Missy- Hope you can talk him into it. My son just was married there, and it was his %26amp; fiancee%26#39;s (now my newest daughter!) first time in Vegas. They love it that they wed there, and are already talking about going back. Good luck to you in convincing him!

OK, I guess Mrs. Kenny it is then! Again, congratulations!

  • Will this work??

Ok so in high school and college I%26#39;d sleep with my book under my pillow the night before a test.... I usually got good marks!

If I put my plaers cards under my pillow.... do you think it%26#39;ll help me win?

    lol

I%26#39;ll be sure to lick them before I put them under my pillow too!

    ;)

    Will this work??

    Hmmmm?

    Will this work??

    Of course it will!!!

But I wish you good luck anyway.

    plaers= players..

    UGH!

Not sure if putting it under your pillow will bring you good luck but the Las Vegas Player Card Fairy might leave you a lot of money during the night! She is a distant cousin of the Tooth Fairy!

Lol veep, is Santa in on this too??? Maybe thay all get together with the Easter bunny! :)

Hey why not? Let me know if it works, I am willing to give it a try.

    Cheers,

    Pook,

If this works for you I am going to sleep with a size 2 bikini under my pillow.

    ..and then a lottery ticket.

Hmmm shrink You may be onto something.....(Runs to find jeans from high school).

If I put a picture of Gwen Stefani( pre pregnancy!!) under my pillow, I wonder if I would wake up looking as good as her!!!

    Great Idea pook!!!!

People try everything else, so why not try and see what happens!! At the least the players card fairy would give you some free play and extra points in your players club account, don%26#39;t you think?? LOL ;-)

Best Teppanyaki style resturant ! Any hotel

Getting in vegas tomoorow !!! what do you guys think

Best Teppanyaki style resturant ! Any hotel

Shibuya LOOKED amazing when we looked in the window, sadly we were too late to get a table though, we%26#39;ll definitely book for next month though

    mgmgrand.com/dining/shibuya-japanese-restaur鈥?/a>

Best Teppanyaki style resturant ! Any hotel

not the best description ! go to the menu, it has the tepanyaki selection on there

Shibuya sounds amazing.. anyone know approximate cost to do the teppanyaki?

your right not a great description ! Teppanyaki usually runs between 50 and 75 a person ! without drinks !

The Benihana in the LV Hilton is good, and much more elaborate than the typical Benihana. For a more intimate experience try Hyakumi in CP.

Okada at Wynn! It%26#39;s a bit pricey, but amazing...

blairb: We ate at Shibuya last week, I had the Prawns and my wife had Fillet %26amp; Prawns, We ordered sides of chicken fried rice %26amp; shrimp fried rice (steam rice is included) which cost $18. The meal also includes appetizer, salad, miso soup (truffle or lobster) and veggies. Total cost with Iced Tea (no drinks) was $159.

It was very good. I%26#39;ve also heard Okada at Wynn is excellent but we haven%26#39;t tried it.

I forgot, dessert was also included. It was a trio, well presented and and very good.

Some Fun Facts I Learned On My First Vegas Trip

Being a Vegas virgin, I went with few expectations and little knowledge. After my first trip there this past week, I feel like I%26#39;ve learned so much. So, here are some facts for other newbies.

As soon as your package is booked and cannot be changed, you will receive email offers from every hotel in LV that could have saved you a fortune.

No matter what hotel you stay at, you are bound to see another that you wish you had stayed at.

A pre planned itinerary is useless. There is too much to do and see and you inevitably get sidetracked by something you weren’t aware of , but just have to do.

That $7.99 prime rib dinner special is something that stays with you for a very long time.

There isn’t enough lip balm in the world to keep you from getting chapped lips

Everything is through the casino. No matter what you are looking for in the hotel, it’s always behind the casino. Once you know this, you save a lot of time wandering around trying to find the registration desk, restaurant or bar.

When trying to navigate the city and figure out where you are, amazingly, you can look up and see a street sign, unlike most large cities.

Men seeking “companionship” need only walk a few steps along the strip to get a phone number conveniently provided on a business card. What do women do if they want companionship?

Well dressed, friendly people in the hotel offering to help you when you look lost should be avoided at all times unless you want to buy a time share.

By the time you get from the street into the monorail station then from your stop to your destination, you may have been able to walk just as quickly.

Never walk through the Excalibur hotel as the Thunder From Down Under show is letting out.

No matter how good a deal you got on your trip, a co-worker has always gotten a better one. Likewise, no matter where you stayed, ate or what you did, there will always be someone to tell you where you should stayed, ate and what you missed doing.

Unless she’s carrying a tray, that good looking woman in the casino asking if you want a drink is not a cocktail waitress.

Some Fun Facts I Learned On My First Vegas Trip

Brilliant!! Very funny but oh so true!!! I especially like the one about the $7.99 prime rib staying with you for a very long time!!!

Some Fun Facts I Learned On My First Vegas Trip

A sure fire way to prevent ever having chapped lips in Vegas is Aquaphor- it is like vaseline (in a bottle that looks like a small lotion bottle) and can be purchased at any drugstore. It lasts a long time and works like a charm!

I won%26#39;t leave home without it!

ChiTown - Aquaphor is my HolyGrail too. I%26#39;d be a chapped mess without it

HA, great post! Was a good laugh to start the day! And surprisingly true.

    Right-on, Right-on...

so funny and true=) loved this!

    ';Men seeking “companionship” need only walk a few steps along the strip to get a phone number conveniently provided on a business card. What do women do if they want companionship?';

Sit at any casino bar in a minidress sans underwear. You won%26#39;t lack for companionship.

This is so accurate! I love it! Can%26#39;t wait to go back! Everything you said was right on the money.

Great post! I enjoyed reading that.

I%26#39;ve only been home 24 hours and already thionking about another trip there. So many things I didn%26#39;t have time to see and do that I just have top go back. Next time I%26#39;ll choose a different hotel. Not knowing any better, we stayed at NYNY....not a bad hotel by any menas but the clientel made it feel like a frat house. Drunken college kids all over the place.

How much does it cost for 2 people to eat at isla in treasure island? Without drinks. Thanks.

    Isla at treasure island

Not sure. I was considering this for dinner my first night next week...here is a link that has some favorable reviews...

    yelp.com/biz/isla-mexican-kitchen-and-tequil鈥?/a>

    Isla at treasure island

I%26#39;ve eaten there many times ~ Very Nice Place! Entre%26#39;s range from about $12 to $25 ~ good salsa %26amp; chips when you sit down. Check out the Tequilla Goddess! She%26#39;s Terrific ( %26amp; not bad to look at either!) Margaritas range from about $9 up depending on the type of tequilla

    You%26#39;ll enjoy it

It cost me and my husband $51 for dinner there, I just check my bill from TI. I%26#39;m sure we probably got 1 margarita each. So, pretty cheap, in my book!

    VIP status

Just a quick question. I read that people are ';platinum/gold/diamond'; status for comps. What exactly is the ladder on this ?

I play around 4 hour sessions and gamble anywhere from $15-$100 a hand at games like baccarat, craps,BJ paigow, and sometimes roulette. I understand the way comps are alotted, just wondering what the titles mean. It is a first trip and I am not aware of the LV casinos rating titles.

    Thanks

    VIP status

Those are tier rating for Total rewards properties. Gold is lowest and Diamond is highest of the three you noted. Seven stars is the highest at HET. The levels and benefits depend on which system you are at.

    VIP status

Those are at HET only, MRM Mirage properties have their own Players Cards. For table games you will need to be rated, usually you have to play minimum $25 per hand for a few hours to be rated.

we are staying at the flamingo, and Iwill most likely be playing at their properties.

Essentially all I am looking for is to get a good offer to bring my wife later in the year. this trip is a guys only week. I need to bring something home to justify my absence. LOL

There are some nice stores across the street at the Forum Shoppes (just a little fyi LOL)

    Jayson,

You should get future offers with that that action (most likely 2-3 weeknights). I want to caution you that Flamingo is about the worst place to play blackjack on the strip because of the unfavorable rules. I kind of like playing craps there, though.

Thanks, I work as a dealer at Casino Lac-Leamy (12 years now) so When it comes to gambling I am quite savvy, I just haven%26#39;t been out to vegas yet and have read about the comp systems changing. Essentially I am ok with paying for food. My wife and I always said we would get re-married in vegas (10 year anni coming up soon) so I figure if I can get a reduced rate or maybe even some free stuff, then a return trip is easier to do.

    Thanks

  • Dos Caminos at the Palazzo?

Hi--Has anyone had dinner at the new Dos Caminos at the Palazzo? I will be there with two girlfriends during the first weekend of May, and all three of us love Mexican food. We only have two nights, so we are choosing our restaurants wisely! I would appreciate any opinions or observations on the restaurant.

    Dos Caminos at the Palazzo?

I%26#39;d love to know as well. My husband and I are staying at the Palazzo this summer. They even have a late night menu.

Expatriate411- did you see how highly rated their guacamole is? YUM! I have heard people say that Jade at the Palazzo is great and they have Dim Sum. That would be a great lunch option! Sushisamba is supposed to be opening sometime in May. That looks awesome too!

    Dos Caminos at the Palazzo?

I haven%26#39;t heard about the guacamole! I am currently living in Germany, and--while there are a lot of great things about living here--the guacamole leaves a little to be desired. Thanks for the hint on the dim sum--that sounds delicious too!

Hi, I live in New York City and we have Dos Caminos. I find it to be overrated. High Prices with small quantity of food. Margarita%26#39;s are good but very very expensive. The guacamole is very good but only get it if they make it tableside. I bet there are better Mexican Restaurants in Vegas besides a chain restaurant like Dos Caminos.

I checked the menu (you can look at it from the Palazzo site under dining) and the guacamole IS made to order. You could do this restaurant for lunch instead of dinner. The food doesn%26#39;t look too expensive. Maybe then one margarita will be enough, whereas at dinner you%26#39;d be more likely to have 2 or 3... then your meal would be expensive!

Howdy y%26#39;all! Me, my wife and my buddy had lunch at Dos Caminos. The inside is just awesome looking. Check out the wall that has all the skulls! About their guacamole, it is not made (table side) like in NYC, but is made fresh to order. We live in S. Texas, so we know guacamole. I would describe it as pico de gallo with avocado - good but nothing special. Down here we are used to creamy guacamole. I like ours in S. Texas better, so save your 10 bucks and pass. The main food was delicious. I had mahi mahi tacos - yum! The wife had chilaquiles (breakfast dish) and my buddy had chicken tacos. The prices were not bad either. We will be going back in June, and I highly recemmend - Enjoy!

Leaving tomorrow and just booked a night at the Skylofts

I am stoked to be spending our last day %26amp; night at the Skylofts. Tried to get 2 nights but not available. The Palazzo will have to do. LOL. I will post about the skylofts when I return as there is not much info available.

Leaving tomorrow and just booked a night at the Skylofts

Since it%26#39;s your last night will you get Maybach dropoff at the airport rather than pickup? :-) Anyway, sounds fun to at least have one night there!

Leaving tomorrow and just booked a night at the Skylofts

Wow, nice job. Can%26#39;t wait for the TR!

    primm outlets

our neighbors just stayed here at buffalo bills. All the rooms are dirty rundown and horrible as is the food. She had to switch rooms 4 times before she could get a decent room, which was a suite cause she had such a bad time. Terribles has taken all of this over..whiskey petes primm resort, bills.....lets hope they clean this up as this has a nice outlet mall.

    primm outlets

I hope they don%26#39;t touch a thing. I want all of the Primm and Jean folks down in Laughlin.

    primm outlets

    Hi

We stayed at Whiskey Pete%26#39;s this time last year and it had gone down hill from previous stays, so we will not be returning unless something good happens to the hotels. Agreed the mall there is good.

    Clive

clive, when you stay out here do you usually buy alot of clothes to take back home because of the prices and favorable exchange rate?

We stayed at the Primm Valley Resort in nov 06.

Small and dirty room, check-in took 1,5 hours at midnight. We will not stay in Primm again.

Just the golf courses are fine there! Played the Lake and maybe will play the desert in june.

    Jochen

    Hi Polkadad

We do buy a lot but not really that much for ourselves but for the kids. Our boys ages are 17,20,21,24 and they love all the clothes from all the trendy shops, yes you can get most of it here in the UK but they cost more than double here. Our youngest loves Vans and Quicksilver etc, we can never get too much of that for him. This year he has left school and started an apprentiship with KLM airlines and cannot come with us on holiday and he is gutted!!!! I have been given a large shopping list, lol.

    Clive

stayed at primm 3 years ago what a scary place

full of red knecks and hookers. Scared to walk down corridors alone, Wasn%26#39;t there a little girl murdered there a few year ago? The outlet mall is ok, much cheaper than the UK and even greater value with the exchange rate. however the clothes etc are the old model/style that was popular over here a couple of years ago. Prefer the Horizon outlet mall in Laughin much much smaller. The mercandise however is finer quality and more up to the minute plus the staff

are so much more friendly . Staff at Primm are a little sharp

why not go a little further and go to the premium outlet malls in las vegas?..much nicer, cleaner and safer..www.premiumoutlets.com

hotel room in vegas=expensive. Traffic is horrible. I for one dont feel like driving home 90 miles on parts of 95 that are real crowded after being at the mall all day.

Isn%26#39;t using the words nicer, cleaner and safer in conjunction with Las Vegas an oxymoron? Just kidding.........sort of.

the only moron i see is you grif...lol..just kidding, sort of...as Isobeloffife mention, yes there was a little girl killed in 1997 at the primm resort.

    Derby Fever!!!

well it was a tough call this year but we decided to head to vegas for the kentucky derby this year instead of our traditional visit to churchill downs. we were frustrated with the absurd cost of hotel rooms and when we realized we could fly out to vegas and stay at caesars for the cost of three nights (minimum) at caesars in louisville we thought we%26#39;d give it a shot...

this we%26#39;ll be the first time we have missed a derby in a loooonnng time and we want to know where we can find a derby party or which sportsbook people prefer to watch the ponies run (do any casinos do anything special for the derby... mint juleps offered anywhere?). will it be possible to get an official program anywhere out there? what time do the sportsbooks start filling up (or do they?). what kind of environment do we see in the sportsbook (wife wants to know if anyone get dressed up with derby hats, etc.? not that it matters she%26#39;ll be wearing hers anyway).

we want to make the most out of our trip out west but i%26#39;m worried we will find ourselves feeling regret. i guess if you%26#39;re not going to be at churchill downs then vegas is the next best thing.

    Derby Fever!!!

Well, clearly you will want to pay a visit to the MGM casino and spend some time playing the only remaining Sigma Derby mechanical horse race game left on the Strip.

    Derby Fever!!!

I%26#39;ve gone to Vegas many times to watch the Derby, but nothing is better than being in Louisville for both the Oaks on Friday and the Derby on Saturday.

Surprisingly, the local%26#39;s casinos often have the best promos for the Derby (any of the Station casinos, Green Valley Ranch is good too).

Bellagio has really comfortable seats in the Sports Book, but the bar there didn%26#39;t offer any specials (though they do make the Mint Juleps the old fashioned way). Paris always has a special event for the derby and the bar there had all kinds of bourbon drink specials (but their Julep was a mix). MGM%26#39;s Centrifuge bar behind the sports book is always a lively place and they have a ton of T.V.s (I would go down to Zuri, another bar in MGM, to get their peach infused Woodford Reserve Bourbon first though).

Otherwise, call the sports book of the hotel/casino you are interested in and ask if they are doing anything special.

Also, if you are going to watch the races in the Sports Book and are wagering, don%26#39;t forget to ask for drink coupons from the teller (policies vary by casino). Otherwise, the cocktail waitresses may try to charge you for drinks.

thankx jonathongo. i am already regretting missing the derby but you have to mix things up once in a while (i guess). we are staying at caesars and i did call and they didn%26#39;t mention anything special going unless you%26#39;re a VIP. kind of lame but we%26#39;ll figure something out.

Received an offer a couple of weeks ago from the Imperial Palace for two nights accomodation and Tickets to their Derby Party on Saturday May 3rd. Will not be taking them up on it but you may want to call Casino Services at the Imperial Palace at 1-866-643-2215 and find out what the party is all about.

So glad you posted this! The wife and I are going to be in Vegas for a business trip this year during Derby. I have looked around but have not found much in the way of Derby parties.

A buddy of mine suggested NOT watching the race in a sports book but instead to place our bets and find a cool lounge to kick back and watch the races. The whole race card is on ESPN.

Not sure about the official program.

I have a suggestion; don%26#39;t call the hotel, call the racebook direct. There is a good chance if you want to even watch the race you will need to reserve a spot.

We were there for Breeder%26#39;s Cup, and all the spots in the major racebooks were reserved in advance. By dropping by 3 weeks in advance, I was able to get a couple of desks at MGM (where we were staying). We ended up at Wynn, but they could not guarantee us spots until that Thursday.

So I would contact Caesar%26#39;s ASAP.

when i called caesars i was actually told there was no direct line the sportsbook area! hmmmm... maybe i%26#39;ll try again.

The Las Vegas Hilton hosted a Derby party last year and they are currently promoting their own 2008 Kentucky Derby Future Book Challenge, so they may be doing something for the Derby again this year.

I%26#39;ve never been to their Race Book but everything I%26#39;ve read about it seems positive!

One Race Book I really like is at the Sante Fe Station and there was no need for drink tickets. Very large area, good service. Not sure if they do anything special for the Kentucky Derby.

The Race Book ar Caesars I was not crazy about.

I%26#39;m very interested in how your experience turns out.

I will be in Vegas the last week of April and I had looked into staying for the Derby but flights back afterwards were just too expensive.

I just came across a blog by Dan Shipiro at Kentucky Derby.com. Dan now lives in Las Vegas so you may want to try and contact him and see if he has any suggestions.

My Aunt and her husband will be attending the Kentucky Derby this year for the first time. They are in their 50%26#39;s and my aunt has no desire to be in the infield. She was telling me they plan to watch the race from the Paddock area. Any suggestions for them?

They may know this already, but they can%26#39;t see the race from the paddock. They will have to watch it on big screens they have set up in the paddock area. Also, the paddock (like every place else) is very crowded and I don%26#39;t believe there will be any place to sit, at least I have never seen a place to sit before. Wear comfy shoes.

  • Day 3 Live Trip Report - April 22, 2008

Day 3 is now in the books, and I am bummed out I am 60+% done with my trip. Last night is the last real night to be a legend, so I will try to.

Today, I left the PH resort and it%26#39;s quality room. I packed up and moved about a mile and a half North to TI Casino. I never stayed here, so I know I was kinda wary about wasting my trip on a piece of crap... So I decided... The $20 Trick.

For those of ya who don%26#39;t know the $20 trick is when you tip the clerk $20 to get an upgraded room.. this one a suite for example. I orig. rented a regular joe room.. nothing special

I waited for the youngest girl I saw working to give me a chance at succeeding. So I waited and got Wendy. She was actually pretty hot :) I tried my bs charm and jokes and she was laughing a lot. I showed her the $20 and asked for an upgrade. She said let me check it out.. No dice on the suite.. she gave me back the $20.. so She said ';I wanna look for something nice for your bday....'; She then said. How about if I put you up in a room with a view. I said sure! She said ok. ';Done, and I%26#39;m gonna arrange for a bottle of Champagne to be sent up to you.'; I smiled.. she smiled back. If this wasn%26#39;t Vegas, I%26#39;d have thought I have a chance with a chick like that, lol

I go up.. and my god, the room is so amazing I don%26#39;t get wowed by a view usually but you can see EVERY casino south of here.. It feels like you are above the road looking at everything.. I can see the pool (and down peoples bikini tops, lol) and the champagne she sent up was a $100 bottle according to Room Service Menu. :)

She gave me the $20 back.. More on that in a bit.

So, anyway.. the one thing I really don%26#39;t like here at TI is the casino.. I dunno, something about it that I find uninspired. At least I%26#39;m across from Wynn and Palazzo.

I decide to go eat before I gamble a little bit, so I go to Fashion Show Mall.. Whats weird is I didn%26#39;t know how huge and amazing it is inside.. I go to Subway and sit down, and I see the prettiest girl I have seen all trip.. at Subway, lol... She is working there.. she was too damn sweet. Being a young guy still, I%26#39;m always in ';get together with someone'; mode, so I kept on making her laugh.. then I heard her tell her coworker in spanish that ';That guy is so cute'; and there was a lot of giggling. If she%26#39;s tellin the truth, then yeah.. I still got it :)

(Note: I am going back to eat there today... If she%26#39;s around, I%26#39;m gonna ask her what she%26#39;s doin%26#39; tonight) I love being young still even though I am on the cusp of 30 in 5 years, lol

So I decided before I go gamble somewhere else, I will spend the $20 I tried to tip the hottie at the front desk, so I played Price is Right Dice Game.. 2 cent with a max bet.. I played a little.. up and down.. then I got dealt 5 of the best character on there including wilds... I won $300 on my $20 trick tip! Yay.. So for the second full day, I didn%26#39;t need to visit the ATM :D... Although I didn%26#39;t win a lot of life changing money yet, I am enjoying 4 nights so far for about $200 spent MAX :) I am so happy

The machines I play are just still Spin Poker, DDB VP, Triple Play Poker.. I played a little more Price is Right machine at Mirage.. with no luck

Yesterday was ';Poor James B. Day'; where I wore some old jeans, and older shirt, and went to the lower casinos... NEVER AGAIN!

I am too spoiled.. When I went to slots of fun, it smelled of feet in there (Like an old mexican man%26#39;s feet.. I grew up in a mexican american town, and being mexican myself, so I know the smell) The waitresses there are old and droopy and I wanted to cry for them how crappy they looked. It was like a waitress senior tour. I then went on the Deuce to Fremont.. Yeah, it%26#39;s not for me. Except the band there was playing a lot of hard rock tunes which was cool. I didn%26#39;t wanna drink there or anything. The bus ride nearly drove me to tears, as I see how the ';other half'; lives... The homeless people walking around reeked.. ugh.

I won nada either, and when I wanted to go home, the line for the deuce was 2 blocks long.. I waited half an hour.. drove another half an hour to center strip.. and i got out asap.. we were so cramped in there... it had to be a hazard.

I came back in.. watched Fox 5 news, got drunk in here.. And went to some Harrah%26#39;s properties without any major luck until 2 am.. Then I ate at my fav pizza place again, and headed home.

I lost maybe $150 today, But I coulda lost about $600 more easy, so I am having a lot of fun, and this trip will be on budget and then some. One more full day including sleep, and today is ';Todd Kay'; memorial day. He is this nice customer of mine who is a walking Harrah%26#39;s billboard.. So I am playing at all these places tonight :) See ya next blog! :)

    Day 3 Live Trip Report - April 22, 2008

My thoughts exactly...you should find that nice young lady working at the desk and hook her up on the $20.

Enjoying your live trip report as if I were there!

Thanks for posting while you are in the process of partying it up!

I tipped her the $20 today. I thanked her for everything. She seemed touched that I went out of my way to track her down, lol
