Inexpensive Car Rentals

I will be in the wonderful Las Vegas the last week of June does anyone know if there are inexpensive car rentals in Vegas will be stying off strip.

Inexpensive Car Rentals

Check www.southwest.com for a good comparison of rates among the various companies for your dates.

Inexpensive Car Rentals

I usually use Alamo with discount codes from Costco. I also check the car rental site at least weekly, because the rates can bounce around quite a bit and good bargains can pop up at any time. Dollar (a sister company to Alamo, I believe) is also a good bet.

Payless probably has the cheapest rates but some people have mentioned having problems with their presure tactics (insurance)

Try priceline name your own price for rental cars. I got a Cadilac SUV in March for $26 a day.

Here are some tips to keep you from

being victimized by your car rental

company:

--- Book at least 1 week early. Rates

go up as your rental date nears.

--- If you book online, you may receive

a discount.

--- Frequent renters get a better rate %26amp;

faster service.

--- For luxury models, you need to call

in advance. Gives company time to track

down the vehicle.

--- Vehicles rented at airports cost more,

thanks to airport taxes or surcharges.

--- Ask about roadside assistance

details. You don%26#39;t want to have to pay

for towing out of your own pocket.

--- What about insurance? Loss Damage

Waiver covers the rental car. Supplemental

liability protects against claims from others.

The advantage of these two is that your

own insurer never has to know about any

incident that could increase your rates.

--- Timing is important. If you are a

business person renting for a couple of days,

or a vacationer renting for a week, consider

getting insurance. If you are renting longterm,

the coverage is too expensive.

--- Before renting, consult your own policy

to verify what is already covered.

--- Assuming your insurance is in order,

leaving none of your assets exposed, there is

usually no need to purchase additional

liability coverage.

--- If you%26#39;ve had a recent string of accidents,

and/or you can%26#39;t afford a premium hike, it

makes sense to purchase extra coverage.

--- Put ALL additional drivers in the rental

contract. Otherwise, you risk voiding the

contract. Most companies won%26#39;t charge extra

for your spouse.

--- If you know you won%26#39;t be using a full

tank of gas (250-300 miles), save money %26amp;

don%26#39;t use the prepay option for gas.

--- Inspect the car thoroughly before leaving

the lot. Take pictures of dents, scratches, etc.

Make sure to note them in the contract.

--- If there are mileage restrictions, stay

within them to avoid post-rental penalties.

--- If the vehicle is damaged: You must file

a report within a specified time. Determine

if a police report is required. Ditto if the

vehicle is vandalized or stolen.

--- If the vehicle is damaged while in the

care of a hotel or restaurant valet service,

work things out with the hotel before filing

a report with the rental company. Less hassle.

--- Return the car on time. Even if you are

one hour late, there are BIG penalties. The

hourly rate = one-third of the daily rate! Thus,

3 hours late=1 day%26#39;s rental!

Happy travels,

That certainly is a long list of tips. I can%26#39;t say I agree with all of them.

hey, I would try priceline.com. We are using this for our upcoming trip to Las Vegas and got a great deal on a convertible. On past trips we have gone through Costcos travel link and used Alamo. We have always got great deals through them and you don%26#39;t have to be a Costco member. Have a great trip!

Definitely arrange your car rental online before you go. We didn%26#39;t last year and I couldn%26#39;t believe the prices we were getting stopping into rental places once in Vegas. This year I reserved ahead with hotwire.com for 12.95 per day for a full size car. We ended up with an SUV for the week.

We picked it up right after we got off the place for the airport car rental location. I was expecting a long delay with the shuttle to get there, lines, etc. but it was pretty painless. Then again, we didn%26#39;t get in until 10:30PM on a Tuesday night.
