Atlantic City votes to ban smoking on floor of casinos

Thoughts?

They have banned smoking in all public places here in Illinois including the casinos. Being a non smoker I love it but I feel for those who smoke and like to gamble.

Nothing worse then sitting at a table with no one smoking and then someone sits right next to you and lights up blowing smoke towards you. Being tightly packed at a BJ table you are practically smoking the same cigarette.

That is a tough one, as a non-smoker like yourself it will be a lot more pleasant for me. But, gambling and smoking are activities that seem comfortable together.

I think the Palazzo have hit a nice happy medium, with a non smoking area. I like a good compromise.

It%26#39;s only a matter of time before the entire casino will be smoke free everywhere. It%26#39;s hard to picture, I know, but just a few short years ago, it was hard to imagine a bar without smoke....

Before that, it was hard to imagine a restaurant without smoke....

Before that, it was hard to imagine a shopping mall without smoke....

Before that, it was hard to imagine a plane without smoke....

People will lament it a bit, but it%26#39;s like shouting at the moon- it ain%26#39;t gonna change anything.

I love being able to smoke in Vegas :( Having a drink and a ciggie indoors is one of the things I look forward to when I%26#39;m there !

Casinos in CT, Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods have always had smoking and non smoking areas (at least last time I was there...may have changed by now) which has worked well. The smoking and non smoking areas are on different levels so, it%26#39;s not like the old non smoking restaurant tables where you could sit in a non smoking area and be only a few feet from a smoker.

I can%26#39;t imagine that in places like AC and Vegas, the casions won%26#39;t be able to figure out some way of accomodating both. the last thing a casion wants is for smokers to have to leave to have a cigarette, they may see daybreak and realize it%26#39;s time to go home.

I%26#39;m a smoker but not a big gambler. So, for me it makes no difference. If I have to walk outside a casion for a cigarette, no big deal. I was actually shocked at the liberal smoking policies in Vegas and often felt i was doing something wrong by lighting up indoors.

How do you REALLY feel, chow?

I%26#39;m a smoker and I say PERFECT! Now I have absolutely reason to ever goto AC again!

Okay folks, have at it. It%26#39;s been a while since a smokning thread was going....

LET%26#39;S GET READY TO RUMBLE....

In Vegas I do like the fact that I can smoke inside the casino since you cannot smoke indoors anywhere where I live. Although I think I have grown to used to being in non-smoking environments because I found the smell at some of the Vegas casino%26#39;s giving me a headache! I have never been to Atlantic City, I don%26#39;t really have plans to go but if they ban smoking and I do go thats fine with me. I play in the casino%26#39;s in Niagara Falls a few times a year and you have to go outside for a smoke there. At least Vegas has better weather then Atlantic City if they decide to join on the non-smoking wagon as well.

You sound like a lot of fun to hang out with, chow.
