sight seeing

I am thinking of renting a car one day while I am in vegas and driving to see red rock canyon, hoover dam and the premium outlets. I am just wondering if anyone know how far these attractions are from the strip. I am staying at MGM Grand.

Red Rock - about 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

Hoover Dam - about 45 minutes, depending on traffic.

Premium outlets - about 15 minutes, depending on traffic.

Depends on traffic. But overall, nothing is very far. Are you doing them all in one day? You might want to start early, and hit Hoover Dam first, then red rock (even though its on the other side of town from the dam), and then the shops last so you don%26#39;t have to leave to do something else (I think they are open until 9 pm). Hope this is helpful.

I would like to do them all in one day because we will only have the rental car for one day. Do you think that%26#39;s too much driving???

It depends on your opinion of too much - I would do it if I were visiting - I would go to the dam earlyish, spend a few hours there (I don%26#39;t know what the deal with tours is nowadays, I think its better and you can go down inside - they stopped that for a while after 9/11 but I think its back). Then drive across town towards red rock, maybe stop for lunch somewhere on the way (there are restaurants on Charleston blvd up towards there), drive the scenic loop, take pictures, drive back to the outlet mall. Shop til you drop etc.

I would suggest you substitute Valley of Fire for Red Rock Canyon. It is so much better. The formations are truly stunning. You will feel like you are in another world. You can simply drive to all the formations or-better yet- hike on some of the short trails. To me it is must see. RRC is nice-VOF is spectacular. Many people combine it with a Hoover Dam stop.

You can easily see Hoover Dam, Valley of Fire and go to the outlet mall in one day.

I would do it all.
