I%26#39;m in the process of booking at romantic long weekend in Reno. I have stayed at the Atlantis for business once - but looking for something a little nicer. Is the Summit @ Grand Sierra a nice place? The pictures of course look nice online - but we all know pics can be deceiving.
We are in our late 20%26#39;s - looking for a fun filled, yet still romantic getaway. Any suggestions?
Grand Sierra - Summit? Need hotel advice
It%26#39;s the Old MGM Grand huge %26amp; IMO very impersonal. Not romantic to me. Check out The Sienna on the river. great suites, spa %26amp; very romantic. Next I%26#39;d choose one of the New suites at the Peppermill which look terrific %26amp; have heard great reports.
Grand Sierra - Summit? Need hotel advice
The Siena is in a great location in that it%26#39;s right on the river, so you can enjoy nice dining with views, but the rooms themselves are really nothing special, and I%26#39;ve noticed that the casino tends to be frequented by lots of the no-tell motel residents in the surrounding neighborhood. I agree with peddler that the new tower of the Peppermill has incredible rooms, particularly the ones with the jacuzzi spa in the room (you mentioned you wanted romantic...). I guess the only downer to the Peppermill is the location, and lots of people don%26#39;t like the ';old school'; neon nature to it.
The Grand Sierra Summit is nice, and the hotel itself is renovated and updated with great restaurants and a cool wine bar. I%26#39;ve eaten at both Charlie Palmer%26#39;s and Dolce since they opened and had great experiences. Again, location would be the main drawback, as you%26#39;re not in the main downtown casino corridor, but if all you%26#39;re planning on is basically hanging out together in the room and occasionally poking your heads out, that would be a good choice, IMHO. ;)
Grand Sierra%26#39;s Summit is dark and moody, so if thats what you call a romantic atmosphere, than go for it. If not, Peppermill%26#39;s Tuscany section too is very romantic.
thanks for the advice! i appreciate it! i went ahead and booked a room at the Summit. :)
