Any suggestions on the best place to visit? should we spend the night or can it be done in 1 day??
Vegas to Grand Canyon
You definately want to visit the South Rim. Many people choose to do the GC as a day trip from Vegas. I don%26#39;t think it is the way to go. Bus trips are very long. Helicopter/plane trips are very expensive; $250+ per person. And both give little time at the Canyon. Some have reported as little as a half hour. The Grand Canyon is one of the most beautiful places on the face of the earth. It deserves more time than any one day tour can offer. Experiencing it at sunset, sunrise, or under a full moon is far more impressive than the Bellagio fountains. If at all possible, rent a car, drive yourself, and spend the night. You will not be disappointed.
Vegas to Grand Canyon
When are you planning on going to the Grand Canyon? You need to make your reservations well in advance if you are planning on staying inside the national park. We just got back from a 10 day road trip with 4 nights at the Canyon (2 west rim, 2 south) and 3 nights in Vegas, and I highly recommend you take your time and spend at least a night at the Canyon. It is a 5 hour drive each way to the south rim from Vegas, so to do it in one day is a stretch.
Depending on how far off your trip is, you have lots of fun options like river rafting and mule rides into the Canyon, but since those fill up quickly, you might just want to take a walk along the rim trail. It is quite flat and very scenic. If you%26#39;re feeling more adventurous you can also hike down one of the trails into the canyon, but be sure you%26#39;re prepared for it, and take lots of water. You can also take the shuttle bus out to the view points to see the sunset. Feel free to click on my name to read my report about the trip we just took, and also check out the Grand Canyon forum in the Arizona section on here, there are a lot of experts on there that will be happy to answer your questions. Hope you have a great trip!
