I have read many posts about this topic but had a few other questions....
How long does it take to drive from LV to HD and then from HD to GC. Is Hoover Dam approx halfway between LV %26amp; GC??
We will be renting a car (early June) about 6 am and driving - stop at HD then head to GC for approx 3 hours (South Rim).
How long is the dam tour (to go down into the dam)? Cost?
What is part entry fee for HD and South Rim GC?
Thank you all so much! This is our 3rd trip to LV. We went to HD before (bus trip) but husband didn%26#39;t go into the dam (i am claustrophobic!) this time we are going with friends and are looking forward to the day trip!
I am welcome to any other suggestions!
day trip to Hoover Dam %26amp; Grand Canyon
From the Strip to Hoover Dam is about 40 minutes. From the dam to the Grand Canyon is about 5 hours, so the dam isn%26#39;t halfway.
We didn%26#39;t do the dam tour and didn%26#39;t really see any reason to. We parked in the garage (can%26#39;t remember how much it cost, no more than $10) and walked across the dam, stopping to take pictures all over. We only spent about an hour at the dam and that included time in the gift shop. You%26#39;d have to look at the Hoover Dam%26#39;s website and see if the shop and tours are even open at the time you%26#39;ll be there (7am by your schedule).
day trip to Hoover Dam %26amp; Grand Canyon
My adivce would be to try an spend a night inside the park at Grand Canyon. It would be so much nicer for all of you. If you plan to stop at HD and tour you%26#39;re really limiting your time to get to and enjoy the GC.
Try calling direct for reservations inside the park at 888-297-2757 and take what they have available.
This would be the best way to do it unless you only did one tour a day and even then it%26#39;s hard!
Enjoy

Thanks for the info!! I appreciate it and look forward to my trip!
The hoover Dam is worth a 10 minute top and few pics but nothing more. The tour is so boring I think that they may have stopped it as people were falling asleep and havingto be carried out - only kidding I think they may have stopped for security reasons
